CCTV drain surveys in Covent Garden
A CCTV drain survey shows exactly what’s happening inside your pipes, so nobody digs or repairs on a guess. We inspect drains and manholes with the latest camera equipment, record clear footage, and explain what we find in plain English.

The short answer
What is a CCTV drain survey?
A CCTV drain survey is an inspection of underground pipes using a waterproof camera pushed or driven through the drain from an inspection chamber. It records the pipe’s condition and pinpoints defects such as cracks, displaced joints, root ingress, collapses, fat build-up and poor previous repairs, along with their distance from the access point.

- You’re buying an older property and want to know what’s underground

FAQs
CCTV drain surveys: your questions answered
What is a CCTV drain survey?
It’s an inspection of your underground drains using a waterproof camera fed through the pipe from an inspection chamber. The footage shows cracks, root ingress, displaced joints, collapses and build-up, and where each one is. It means repairs can be targeted rather than guessed, which usually makes them smaller and cheaper.
Should I get a drain survey before buying a house?
For older London properties, yes, it’s worth considering. A standard homebuyer’s survey doesn’t look inside the drains, and Victorian clay pipes often have cracks or root damage that isn’t visible from above. Finding a problem before exchange gives you the chance to renegotiate or ask the seller to put it right.
How long does a CCTV drain survey take?
Most domestic surveys of a house or flat take an hour or two on site, depending on how many drain runs there are and whether they need jetting first so the camera can see. Larger commercial buildings with long or deep runs take longer. We’ll give you an idea when we quote.
Do I get a copy of the footage?
Yes. We show you what we find as we go, and you can keep the recording of your survey. It’s useful to share with a surveyor, insurer, freeholder or builder. If you need a written report with defect notes for a purchase or insurance claim, tell us when you book.
